Program Description
UNM Psychiatric Center- Inpatient offers acute psychiatric hospitalizations for individuals who are at risk of harming themselves or others, or, otherwise, render them unable to care for themselves. The Psychiatric Center has two adult units and one Geriatric unit.

Referral process
Individuals are admitted through an assessment process with an attending doctor in either the Emergency Department, Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES), or an inpatient medical floor. Individuals cannot be self-referred from the community.
