Program Description

The Short-Term Assessment for Recovery and Treatment (START) Clinic operates within a consultation-based model, though some individuals may require extended support to achieve stabilization. Services are time-limited and focused on delivering comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, guiding informed treatment decisions, and managing acute symptoms that may pose a risk for psychiatric hospitalization.

The duration of services at the START Clinic is designed not to exceed six months. While many individuals can transition back to their referring providers after a few visits, others may benefit from continued treatment. During their time at the clinic, the multidisciplinary team conducts thorough assessments, provides psychoeducation, addresses treatment adherence challenges, collaborates on treatment decisions, implements and manages interventions such as pharmacotherapy, and coordinates referrals for additional services, including psychotherapy, neuromodulation therapies, primary care, community-based care, and financial counseling. The overarching goal at START Clinic is to stabilize symptoms, promote recovery, and support a smooth transition to ongoing care.
