Our Services

Hearing loss can be caused by damage to the inner ear, ear infection, ruptured eardrums or tumors in the ear. Your UNMH audiologist will create a personalized treatment plan with you.

Visit our clinic for the following care:

  • Assistive listening devices
  • Auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing
  • Cochlear implant services
  • Electrocochleography

Make an Appointment

You will need a referral from your doctor to meet with a UNMH audiologist. Your referral can be faxed from your doctor’s office to 505-272-0300. Our patient care coordinators (PCCs) can help with scheduling. We work with most major health insurance companies.

Prior Authorization

A prior authorization number is issued by your insurance company. We need this number before we can complete diagnostic tests. Your primary care doctor's office should request authorization from your insurance company.

If you need an authorization but have not gotten one, you may:

  • Contact the clinic that ordered your audiology diagnostic test. Ask for the person who coordinates prior authorization and referral.
  • Contact your insurance company. You can find out if you have the covered benefits for audiology testing, as some insurance providers do not cover them. You may also have high deductibles that must be met first.
  • Contact a UNMH audiology PCC who can advise you on whether your prior authorization is in place. Call 505-272-3535 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
