Program Description
MST provides intensive in-home, family and community-based psychosocial treatment for the family of an adolescent who is at risk for an out of home placement. MST also provides step down in-home treatment for youth returning home from an out of home placement. MST services are provided primarily in the home setting, but the assigned therapist may also intervene at the school, court, probation office or other community settings as appropriate to support the youth and family with their treatment goals. MST is an evidence-based modality developed to addresses the multiple causes of serious anti-social behaviors and future risk potentials across key systems to increase the likelihood of a positive outcome for the identified youth. The systems that are routinely included within MST include family, peers, school and the neighborhood / community. MST is time limited, with service ranges from 120-140 days with possible extensions of 2-4 weeks if deemed clinically necessary.
