UNMH and SRMC Charge Masters

Figuring out health care costs can be complicated for patients. To help you determine an estimate, we post pricing lists for UNM Hospital (UNMH) and Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC).

Costs are broken down into three pricing lists:

  • Charge Description Master (CDM): Also called the “Charge Master,” this document provides estimated costs for outpatient procedures.
  • Diagnosis Related Group (DRG): The DRG provides estimated costs of inpatient hospital stays based on the patient’s diagnosis.
  • Pharmacy Formulary: This document provides estimated costs of prescriptions.

Please Note: These lists are not provided as a true estimate of your out-of-pocket costs. Actual services rendered and insurance benefits will determine your true cost.

Please contact your insurance company if you need an estimate specific to your individual insurance benefits, co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles.

This is a list of items and services including gross charge, payer negotiated charges, the lowest and highest charge the hospital has negotiated with third-party payers and cash price.

The DRG gives estimates for standard payments to hospitals. The DRG is the estimated average of all-inclusive cost for a patient to stay in the hospital based on their diagnosis. This list is updated at least once a year.

The DRG costs are only an estimate of charges. They are based upon the average amount charged in the past year. The actual amount may change. The actual charge depends on the complexity of the diagnosis and whether there are complications.

In general, a DRG price does include all facility fees related to a hospital stay from the time of admission to discharge. The DRG does not include professional fees.
