Comprehensive Testing
When you make an appointment, your doctor may use one of the following tests:
Using an ambulatory blood pressure monitor to track your blood pressure every 15-30 minutes during a normal day and night helps you and your doctor know whether your blood pressure treatment is working.

This test helps your doctor see how well your heart works under stress. You are given a medicine called dobutamine, which will make your heart beat stronger and faster as you lie on an exam bed for the test.

Also known as an ECG or EKG, this test records electrical signals from your heart. The pattern of signals helps your doctor know whether your heart is functioning normally.

Worn at home for up to a month, this device monitors your heart to help your doctor know if your heart is functioning as it should.

A stress echo test, in which you pedal on a stationary bike with increased resistance, helps your doctor see how well your heart works under stress.

In this test you walk on a treadmill while your doctor monitors your blood pressure and heart rate.

The probe sends out waves, which are then sent to a computer. It provides your physician with a picture of the inside of your abdomen.

Visit our cardiac rehabilitation center on the first floor of UNM Hospital. Work with a physical therapist to regain your health and strength after a heart attack or other cardiac event.
Our team will help you control heart disease symptoms in supervised exercise sessions. You can also take an education class to learn how to live a heart healthy lifestyle and avoid future problems.
