Program Description
Psychiatric Emergency Services provides emergency/urgent walk-in evaluation and crisis services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for people of all ages. Everyone who presents to psychiatric emergency services will receive a medical screening exam, a psychiatric evaluation by a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse, and discharge safety planning.
Services Provided
- Diagnostic Psychiatric evaluations to assess for mental illness, including for patients on Certificates of Evaluation (see Certificate of Evaluation Guideline), and admission to an inpatient facility when necessary.
- Admission to an inpatient facility, if necessary
- If necessary, Crisis intervention related to a psychiatric illness Medication management for crisis stabilization
- Referrals to ongoing mental health/ psychiatric services
- Referrals for medical, social or substance abuse services
Referral Process
We are an emergency service, and we serve all people. They can be self-referred, transferred by community referral, transferred by emergency medical services, or transferred by law enforcement.
