Native American Behavioral Health Programs
Native American communities have unique mental health care needs. UNM Health System’s Native American Behavioral Health Program works to improve access to culturally appropriate, quality behavioral health services in New Mexico.
Dedicated Mental Health Care for Native Americans
UNM Health System consults with Native American communities and local agencies to develop behavioral health systems.
The program provides opportunities for consultation, training and evaluation partnerships and services.
We also partner with Native communities on local projects and future grant initiatives, among other projects.
UNM Health System offers the following for community leaders and physicians:
- Technical assistance for behavioral health systems and training partners.
- Help with co-occurring mental health issues and substance abuse.
- Clinical collaboration through telehealth, face-to-face meetings, and with Indian Health Services primary care providers.
