When to Go to the Emergency Department
Seek emergency care for serious injuries or illness. Call 911 and get help right away for emergencies. Some examples include:

Emergency Care for Children
Get pediatric emergency care at University of New Mexico Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Department. The UNM Hospital Pediatric ED is the only dedicated pediatric emergency care location in the state. The care team are all specially trained and dedicated to caring for pediatric patients.
Resuscitation Unit
Life-threatening illnesses or injuries may receive care in the Emergency Department Resuscitation Unit (EDRU), a highly specialized program of care, and one of the few in New Mexico. The EDRU provides the latest technology and skills in the care of critical illness or injury such as cardiac arrest, stroke, heart attack, sepsis and trauma.
