Compassionate, Respectful Care: The UNM Difference
UNM Health provides the highest quality of care for more than 200,000 New Mexicans each year. In 1952, UNM Hospital was built on Native American grounds, with the promise to provide culturally competent and inclusive care to all New Mexicans.
Since then, UNM Health has followed through with their mission of accessible, affordable care. UNM Health provided over $44 million in charitable care and financial assistance for services not covered by insurance or federal programs in 2018.
To extend the reach of our mission, we have implemented services and programs to care for patients across the state, including:
- Priority access to care for Native Americans
- Free, 24/7 interpreter language services
- LGBTQ+ care recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Healthcare Equality Index
- Telehealth options
- Health Hub
The UNM Hospital Community Engagement (UNMHCE) department contributes to the overall well-being of the communities we serve to achieve positive health impact and outcomes through community engagement. Learn more about UNM Health's community engagement here.
