Mental Health Center (MHC) Pharmacy
Located at the UNM Adult Psychiatric Center, the Mental Health Center (MHC) Pharmacy provides convenient outpatient pharmacy services for patients receiving care through UNM's mental health programs.
Our pharmacy team works closely with patients and their healthcare providers to help make medications easier to manage, understand, and take as prescribed. In addition to providing outpatient pharmacy services, the MHC Pharmacy offers specialized support designed to help patients manage complex medication schedules.
Services Offered
- Medication Counseling: Pharmacists can answer questions about medications, how to take them, potential side effects, and medication interactions.
- Prescription Refills: We help patients obtain refills and coordinate with healthcare providers when additional authorization is needed.
- Prior Authorization Support: We work with your healthcare provider and insurance company when your medication requires additional approval.
- Medication Access Support: We help patients and providers address insurance and other barriers that may make it difficult to obtain medications.
- Affordable medication options: Our pharmacy team can work with healthcare providers to identify alternative therapies or medication options when appropriate and when cost is a concern.
- Medication Coordination: Our team communicates with healthcare providers to help coordinate medication-related needs.
- Bubble Packing: Medications can be organized into convenient packaging to help patients keep track of their medications and dosing schedule.
- Meds to Beds Service: Eligible patients can have discharge prescriptions filled and delivered before leaving the clinic.
Bubble Packing
Taking multiple medications at different times of the day can be difficult to manage. Bubble packing organizes medications into individual packages according to the prescribed dose and time they should be taken.
This service can help patients:
- Keep medications organized
- Keep track of when medications should be taken
- Reduce confusion when taking multiple medications
- Make it easier to see whether a scheduled dose has been taken or missed
- Support consistent medication use

Who We Serve

Who can use this pharmacy?
- Patients being discharged from UNMH
- Patients with UNMH prescriptions
- Even if you are not being discharged from the hospital, we can still fill your UNMH prescriptions on a walk-in basis.
How does Meds to Beds work?
- Discharge services are offered and provided to all UNMH patients who elect to use the service.
- Your provider will send your discharge prescription(s) to the pharmacy, where they will be processed and filled. Your medication will be delivered to you before you leave the hospital.
