The UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only cancer center in the state of New Mexico that is designated by the National Cancer Institute. We hold Comprehensive designation, the highest federal designation and rating for cancer centers. As the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center and the Official Cancer Center of the State of New Mexico, the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is committed to fighting cancer on all fronts.

Our team of board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to New Mexico’s cancer patients from all across the state. They partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. They enroll patients in clinical trials, which can offer more options for cancer treatment. And, they work closely with our team of cancer scientists to bring the latest discoveries for innovative treatment options to New Mexicans facing cancer.
