School-to-Work Transition

Studies have shown that transition for students with disabilities can be successful when systems work together while a student is in high school (Taylor, Morgan & Callow-Heusser, 2016). Toward that end, Partners for Employment facilitates collaboration, training, and program development for school-to-work professionals across New Mexico.

School-to-Work Transition Teams

PFE facilitates School-to-Work Transition Teams (SWT) in communities throughout New Mexico, supporting local efforts to improve employment outcomes for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and increase school-to-work interagency collaboration. Email Marcy Hintz at mhintz@salud.unm.edu to learn more about joining a team in your area.

School-to-Work Trainings and Conferences

Partners for Employment provides trainings and an annual conference highlighting best practices in school-to-work transition. Past trainings and conference topics have addressed the goals and provisions of WIOA, tools for effective collaboration, strategies for parent engagement, and ideas for connecting students and families to adult services. Partners for Employment also provides intensive, certification-track training to job coaches and job developers directly involved in the employment of youth and adults with disabilities. Check out the calendar of upcoming Partners for Employment trainings and conferences.
