Lifeguard Air Emergency Opportunities
Help save lives by serving in University of New Mexico Hospital’s (UNMH’s) Lifeguard Air Emergency Services. You’ll ensure safe, timely transport and critical care of patients with conditions such as a traumatic injury, heart attack, stroke, pregnancy complication or pediatric emergency.
Crew & Staff
The Lifeguard Team includes:
- Highly trained flight nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists and physicians
- Pilots experienced flying in the local area
- Mechanics with years of experience in aviation maintenance
Orientation Process
As a new hire you will participate in a competency based orientation curriculum that includes ICU and Emergency Department rotations, Operating Room rotations for airway management, ride along with local EMS agencies and 12-16 weeks of on site 3rd rider experience. Sign off to full partner status includes several comprehensive, scenario based simulations. Previous experience working in 911 Pre-hospital, Hospital ICU or Emergency Department is required to be considered for hire.
Training and Certification
Maintain your skills with:
- Quarterly didactic education and simulation training
- Ongoing clinical and operating room rotations with documentation of quarterly airway management
- Ultrasound for diagnostic purposes and starting IV and A - Lines
- Annual cardiac assist devices refresher
- Annual online Learning Management System education
- Annual crew resource management training
- Annual training on use of night vision goggles
- Annual Survival Day skills
