Biography
Dr. Kathy Wolfe received a B.S. degree in Biology (2005) from the University of Houston-Main Campus and M.S. degree in Neuroscience and Cell Biology in 2008 from UTMB in Galveston. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree (2013) from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Following her MD degrees, she completed a 5-year Child Neurology residency at the University of New Mexico Health Science Center, and a 1-year Sleep Medicine Fellowship and the University of New Mexico.
I am originally from Texas, attended The University of Texas Medical Branch for my medical school education. Needing a change of venue (that is closer to the mountains for snowboarding), and looking for more rural surroundings, I came to the University of New Mexico for my residency in Child Neurology. I stayed here for my fellowship in Sleep medicine and now I am proud to be here as an Assistant Professor in Child Neurology.
Albuquerque affords me the unique opportunity to practice a specialty like child neurology in a more rural setting, and still be able to practice in a University setting where I can participate in resident and medical student education as well. I am particularly interested in neonatal sleep medicine as well travelling to the Outreach Clinics to provide care to the more rural areas of the state.
Personal Statement
During my child neurology residency, I was fortunate enough to have a brilliant mentor who exposed me to pediatric sleep medicine. Now I am able to blend these two practices and am able to understand and treat my patients in a more well-rounded approach.
