Biography

As an undergraduate student at Macalester College (BA, Psychology 2000), I first became interested in medicine through study and practice with contemplative traditions of the Himalayan region. I completed medical school (MD, 2007) and residency in Family Medicine (2010) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where I also developed expertise in Integrative Medicine. I'm honored to serve the UNM School of Medicine's mission as faculty since 2015, both in the Department of Internal Medicine (Divisions of General Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine, 2015-2019), and subsequently the Department of Family and Community Medicine (2020-present.)

Personal Statement

My approach to medicine focuses on health and healing as integrative by nature. I'm interested in the skillful and appropriate integration of various disciplines and perspectives toward a holistic understanding of health. I am committed to high quality clinical care. I enjoy teaching to a wide variety of learners and in varied settings. My scholarship has focused on disseminating emerging insights from Integrative Medicine, engaging systems of traditional medicine, and the application of contemplative practices.
