Mission
To advance the strength and sustainability of those who UNM Medical Group serves in an effort to improve access to health care in communities throughout New Mexico. We place a strong emphasis on supplying high caliber staff to rural and medically underserved areas at affordable rates.
History
The UNMMG Locum Tenens and Specialty Extension Services Program started in 1993 with an appropriation from the State of New Mexico. It originally was an opportunity for faculty and residents at the University of New Mexico to serve as temporary providers in Rural locations for short periods of time. It has grown to include not only faculty and residents but providers from outside the University system as well.
Our Locums providers are a widely varied group from those just out of Residency, exploring their options, to those who are semi-retired who desire to practice on a part-time basis and continue to earn income. We also have many specialist including, but not limited to Surgeons, OB’s and Psychiatrists.
Providers can pick and choose which assignments and which days they prefer to work. This provides for an extremely flexible schedule. Our compensation is competitive and we offer many travel benefits. Please see our provider page for more details.
